Tabora Region

The regional capital is Tabora town, about 700 km inland from the coast. FUM's support is focused on villages around the townships of Nzega, north of Tabora , and Urambo to the west. We also support Sikonge FDC 60 km south of Tabora.

The region is relatively sparsely populated with agriculture the main economic activity so it is very dependent on rainfall.

Roads are mostly poor with many impassable at times in the rainy season. The road north from Tabora town to Nzega and on to Mwanza was tarred in 2015 with Chinese government help.
